What I mean by this, is in the above example, if you're playing a Draconic Sorcerer (AC=13+DEX mod) it shouldn't matter if your person is a dragon-blooded dude/lady as written, or if they have skin made of a different material or even just be uncommonly fast on your feet so as to be able to dodge, or however you want to flavor it, if it is flavor only.Īnother great one for playing a Demigod is the Cleric. Unless you have, or are, a stuffy (read closed minded) GM, it should be no problem to allow you players to play their character how they will, so long as there is no mechanical difference between the RAW/RAI (NOT AN ARGUMENT I'M STARTING) and the way they are played. There are a few classes that really lend themselves to this at the outset: Sorcerer stands out to me (particularly the UA Stone Sorcery, or any of the other elemental affinity ones from the UA's, as being particularly flavorful) (There are shop-boys, and boys who just happen to work in shops) Sure, you can still be a Guild Merchant, or a Soldier, or an Urchin: those are where you have been, but not the essence of who you are. Now, imagine that your background is more than just minor mechanical benefit with a mix of skills and equipment and the like. Imagine, if you will, having the built-in plot-hook of a warlock with the class features and racial bonuses you select.
I love the idea of playing a Demigod as a player character.
